  • GBF 400: Financial Investments: This course aims to give students a basic understanding of the investment process by considering two key aspects: security analysis for equity and fixed income investments as well as portfolio management, including design and performance evaluation. Students are required to carry out two projects that help them apply this knowledge in a global business context.
  • GBF 410: Financial Planning: This course provides students with detailed expertise to examine and evaluate financial statements. It covers the fundamental concepts and procedures of financial statement analysis including advanced concepts in financial accounting. Other areas include budget preparation, analysis, relation, development and execution.
  • GBF 420: Short-term Financial Management: The main objective of this course is to acquaint students with the modern techniques and practices of short-term corporate finance. It details the key components of a firm’s current assets and liabilities; liquidity and default risk; and short-term financing and investing decisions.
  • GBF 430: Long-term Financial Management: This course provides students with the expertise necessary to assess the optimal corporate capital structure and the best dividend policy for continuously increasing the value for shareholders. It also provides concepts, principles and a basic understanding of the steps required to evaluate potential investment prospects and operate a small business.
  • GBF 440: Advanced Finance: This course provides students with an understanding of how companies can grow and consolidate their financial positions. Mergers and acquisitions are studied as paths toward company growth and consolidation.
  • GBF 450: Finance: This course covers key principles of finance necessary to understand and implement the finance function in an organization and carry out the financial analysis that justifies the decision-making process.
  • GBF 460: Multinational Finance Management: This course examines the financial issues facing managers and firms involved in the international transfer of assets, goods and services. The main topics explored will be the foreign exchange market, the management of foreign exchange risk, and investment and financing decisions in international capital markets.
  • GBF 470: Financial Statement Analysis: This course aims to take the analysis of financial accounts beyond simple ratio analysis. It provides an understanding of the relationship between information and the movement of share prices. Each lecture will be backed up by classes which will be concerned with a practical issue.
  • GBF 480: Entrepreneurial Finance: This course deals with private equity and venture finance from inception of the idea, milestone planning, to the harvesting (exiting) of the investment.
  • GBF 490: Contemporary Topics in Banking and Finance: This course covers topical ethical issues relating to the financial sector, such as: fraud, market manipulation, insider dealing, high speed trading, fiduciary responsibilities, conflicts of interest, predatory and responsible lending and borrowing, socially and environmentally responsible investment and sustainability, Islamic finance.
  • GBF 500: Corporate Governance: The course will consider the fundamental issue of how corporations are run. The focus is on debates around how to improve the functioning of corporations in the post-Enron era and aims to develop an understanding of what constitutes good corporate governance and what the impact is of regulations and codes of practice.
  • GBF 510: Operations Management: This course introduces students to the intricacies of managing processes and operations. The course starts with a view of Operations Management in context, differentiating between the areas of strategy, design, operational resources management and quality improvement.
